Born out of a study between subject and environment, We Were There Now is the culmination of a year-long project and sees Yoshitomo maturing as a photographer better equipped both technically and conceptually. Beginning in the fall of 2023 Yoshitomo shot (on separate occasions) Jake Santos and Neshat Neishabouri at Toronto’s Bickford Park. Upon revisiting the work it seemed there was a connection to be made. With a better understanding of his equipment, lighting, direction and styling, Yoshitomo explored a new location (Humber River Recreational Trail) shooting both Jake and Neshat in the company of one another.
